Gearing up for the 7th Captain Oliver’s Regatta

The Regatta was founded by patron Olivier Lange, alias Captain Oliver, in 2005.  Since then it has become an annual 3-day event scheduled this year from May 20th to 22nd, catering to the sailors from St Maarten / St Martin and the surrounding islands.

Classes are established to allow fair competition in all classes from stripped out high performance machines to heavyweight cruisers. They include Racing and Performance Monohull, Cruising Monohull, Bareboat, Racing and Cruising Multihull, Beachcat, more recently a One Design Class and the Corporate Challenge. The regatta is run using the CSA rule and is affiliated to ISAF through the Sailing Federation of the former Netherlands Antilles.

The courses for this year’s regatta will be the traditional course around St Martin (scheduled for Saturday), and the St Barth’s channel scheduled on Sunday.

This year’s theme is “La Joie de Vivre”, great atmosphere is guaranted both on and off the water with Coors Light as main sponsor and hosted by Captain Oliver’s Restaurant.

NauticNews will attend this event, don’t miss photos and comments to come…
