Camper & Nicholson Endeavour 42 : back in style

Camper & Nicholson returns with a powerboat that beautifully combines tradition and state-or-the art technology. For the last twenty years, the world’s oldest shipyard (founded in 1782 by Francis Ames), father of such prestigious boats as Philante (80m,  built in 1937, presently named Norge), Fair Lady or Shamrock V,  has focussed mainly on yacht restoration. But since their  acquisition by Finnish manufacturer Nautors Swan in 2001 (see our article on Swan 45), Camper & Nicholson the manufacturers are back.

Built with the participation of the American design firm Raymond Hunt, the Endeavour 42 is as beautiful as she is luxurious. Pure lines; perfectly harmonious colours; teak, cherry-wood and mahogany everywhere; exterior fittings with facing bench seats: this  product has everything you need to recreate the atmosphere of 1930s luxury yachting. Yet, the Endeavour is much more than a tribute to history. She is also very much in the
present, with electronic engine controls, power steering, and a V-shaped hull that provides absolute safety and comfort even in rough seas.

The interior is surprisingly spacious and comfortable, with rare woods and cleverly arranged accommodations: facing bench seats, double berth in the bow, fully-equipped galley and separate bathroom with WC and shower.

This worthy successor to the old motor launches of the past is powered by two 400 HP Yanmar engines reaching speeds of approximately 35 knots. Options include bow thruster, DVD player, watermaker and air-conditioning. So who ever said the past is the past?
