The years go by and are not alike for the organizers of Les Voiles d´Antibes who must manage both the uncertainties of the current health crisis (with a postponement of the event to September 2021) and a relocation of the event.
Postponement of Voiles d’Antibes 2021 from June to September
Regarding the health situation, the decision was taken to postpone the 26th edition of Les Voiles d’Antibes (which was to take place from June 2 to 6, 2021) to September 15 to 19, 2021 (between the Classic Week in Monaco – September 8 to 12, 2021 – and the Régates Royales de Cannes – September 21 to 25, 2021).
This cautious decision was taken following the still uncertain development of the current health crisis. On the one hand, the restrictions still in force on international transport cause delays in the preparation of boats and crews coming from abroad and on the other hand the restrictions related to gauges for the reception of the public.
These uncertainties foreshadow, for the beginning of June 2021, the maintenance of certain restrictions and constraints, incompatible with the need to organize a prestigious international event in complete safety and without constraints for the participants, the public, the partners and the volunteers.
Relocation of Voiles d’Antibes
On the other hand, Les Voiles d´Antibes will also have to relocate for the next 3 years.
Following the start of the renovation project as part of the large-scale architectural project on Port Vauban, the Bastion Saint-Jaume enclosure will no longer be usable for the entire duration of the works.
After an in-depth study of the accessible and available spaces, it was decided, in agreement with the Port Vauban team, to relocate the reception of Classic Yachts and the Village des Voiles (Partners, Exhibitors, Organization) on the South Mole of Port Vauban (Quai des évadés de Guerre) and the Festive area (Catering and Entertainment) on the boules pitch, as close as possible to the old town.
