ANTIBES YACHT SHOW APRIL 6-9 2007

It’s on a beautiful sunshiny day that the Antibes Yacht Show has finally come to life in Port Vauban of Antibes.

Nearly a mile of red carpet dressed the quays of the Old Port and the Quai des Milliardaires spreading throughout the entire old Chantier Naval Opera set the tone of the luxury of the show. Around one hundred exhibitors, 70 yachts in the water from 55 to 200 feet and almost 8 500 visitors have participated at this premiere of the Antibes Yacht Show. One could visit motor and sailing yachts for sale or for charter. The exhibitors were very different, along with the brokers, there were also companies offering services around yachting, crew placement, interior decoration, naval architecture, suppliers, wi-fi connection but also luxury products and nautic magazines etc…

The VIP area and the caterer dominated the show from the terrace of the Chantier Naval Opera recently restored by the town. It was there that the exhibitor cocktail evening took place on Saturday April 7th sponsored by Only Yacht and animated by a Jazz trio. The setting was superb, we could enjoy the appetizers prepared by the show’s caterer Ruban Bleu while enjoying the sunset over the town of Antibes.

Antibes Yacht Show also hosted an evening for the captains and their crews. With the help of EGP, a barbecue was improvised on the Quai des Millardaires the Sunday evening while the MY Magna Grecia participated with music and a fabulous light show.

Many of the exhibitors organised cocktails for their clients. Riviera Yacht Support animated a part of the Quai des Milliardaires every afternoon with a golf competition whilst collecting funds for the Montessori School. Golf amateurs could swing 5 balls towards the sea for the amount they chose. A boat shuttle picked up the floating balls after the distance was measured. Every day the best performance (male and female) was rewarded with a bottle of champagne. The entire amount collected of 1 417€ will be given to the school, while the record of 279 meters will remain in the books until next year.

The free boat shuttles available for the exhibitors and the visitors allowed every one to get into the context from the start and contributed tremendously to decrease the traffic in town. This show so expected gathered professionals from about twenty different nationalities and made us discover the Port Vauban, the IYCA and the town of Antibes and the renovated Chantier Naval Opéra.

On April 9th, the show finished with a unison of horns from the yachts, to the pleasure of the visitors present who still have the chills.
