Vilanova Grand Marina – Barcelona opens in April

VGM.jpgThe new marina conceived and designed exclusively for superyachts and megayachts, will open for business at the beginning of April 2009 in Barcelona, just after attending the Antibes Yacht Show that will be held in this French town from 2nd to 5th April. The marina, which was present at the latest editions of the Monaco, Barcelona and Düsseldorf boat shows, goes to Antibes pursuing its mission to become a key player within the superyachts international market.

Strategically located in the Western Mediterranean, close to Barcelona in a quite, clean water environment, Vilanova Grand Marina – Barcelona is one of Europe’s most advanced marinas for large boats with 49 berths ranging from 25 to 80 meters in length, and with one of the most complete, best equipped technical areas to carry out specialised repair & refit services.

Xiqui Mas, Chairman of Vilanova Grand Marina explained: “we are carrying out an intense international commercial strategy which is already showing results. We have exceeded our expectations in our first year of sales and are confident that we will obtain positive results despite the difficult economic situation we are in”. He added: “our presence in Antibes is part of this strategy and we hope it will be beneficial for contacts with brokers and charter companies”.

With an investment of over 30 millions euros, the new marina starts its activity this coming April, offering a set of facilities and services especially designed to attend the needs of superyachts and megayachts and to ensure privacy and security for its customers at all times. Some of its characteristics are: large concrete piers, a draught of up to seven meters, intelligent service bollards with power measured for this type of boats, fuel supply and collection of residual water at berth point, private working areas, store rooms and a helistop. The marina also features exclusive areas and services for shipowners and captains, a restaurant and a professional commercial area with companies from the superyacht and megayacht sector.

The integration of the technical area in the marina itself constitutes a great added value for users of Vilanova Grand Marina – Barcelona. Totally isolated from the berth area, the 30.000 square-meter technical area will feature two painting sheds of 40 and 60 meters in length, high capacity travelifts and a team of naval engineers specialised in large boats coordinating the projects. The technical area will be operational at the end of 2009.
