An Interview with Captain Baily of M/Y MRS D

Some yachts are made to stand out and that’s exactly the case for M/Y MRS D. The superb superyacht offers all the luxuries that would be expected on a vessel of a much larger size.

This stunning superyacht for sale was built in 2013 and has undergone a complete refit this year; she is now characterised by a sophisticated and refined interior. This 30.76m vessel from Moonen Yachts displays the quality for which Dutch shipyards are renowned, without compromising on style – a feature that can be credited in part to her spectacular Vripack design.

Describing the most appealing features of M/Y MRS D, Captain Baily said: “MRS D is an expedition yacht, and there are very, very few boats this size that are built for going around the world. This boat was built to circumnavigate the world, and she has a five thousand nautical mile range, which boats of this size just don’t have. She’s super, super fuel-efficient: we burn just one hundred litres of fuel per hour, and that gives us a great range.”

With a look that evokes classic motor yacht design with a nod to her oceangoing capabilities, M/Y MRS D is a spacious and airy displacement yacht with long distance cruising potential. She has an impressive range of over 5,000 nautical miles and a cruising speed of 12 knots. She boasts Caterpillar engines, Cummins Onan generators and a steel hull. The superyacht is also Lloyd’s and MCA compliant.

Perfect for entertaining family or groups of friends, M/Y MRS D has the capacity to accommodate up to seven guests in three staterooms and a crew of four. No detail has been overlooked, with a polished wood finish of the finest quality. Other special features include a newly installed gym, a swimming platform and generous alfresco entertaining spaces.

Captain Baily expanded on the unique features of MRS D : “There is a great Jacuzzi on the top deck, as well as two jet-skis. There is also a dive tender, which is very easy to launch, because it has its own tender deck. The tender deck doesn’t interfere with guests, whereas on some boats your tenders might be hidden under your sunbathing area or something like that. On Mrs D all the tenders are at the back and away from all the guest areas – that’s very special about her as well.

What’s more, she’s two hundred and twenty-two gross ton, so there’s a huge amount of volume onboard and lots of room for storage. We can go to sea for a number of weeks without going ashore because we’ve got a huge amount of refrigeration and freezer capacity, we’ve also got a dry store for our fresh fruits on board, so we can happily cruise the world very, very easily.”

While this superyacht is the perfect vessel for more adventurous South Pacific or Indian Ocean itineraries, she is also guaranteed to turn heads in Palma, Portofino and all the ports in between. Captain Baily commented on the yacht’s itinerary in the 2016 Mediterranean yachting season:

“This year we did Sardinia, Corsica, and all of Amalfi.  Then we went over to Mallorca, and spent a lot of the time on the East Coast of Mallorca and Palma. Then we went down to Ibiza and spent a lot of time down there. Then we made our way back here to the South of France. The Balearics is a particularly beautiful place to cruise. I find that the Spanish are a lot more protective over their waterways than other countries in the EU. You do find it a lot more pristine down there, but it’s very, very weather dependent. The east coast of Mallorca is a beautiful place, and there are a lot of places a 30m vessel can hide. It’s a gorgeous, gorgeous place.”

Captain Baily concluded by saying: “MRS D is a very, very safe, Dutch-built and Dutch-designed yacht of exceptional quality. There are few boats of her size that can travel so far. The crew gets on really, really well.“

M/Y MRS D is on the market for EUR 8,900,000. To find out more information about the luxury superyacht, contact a member of the Fraser Yachts team.

Happened to see the beautiful Mrs.D in the harbour today in Port Soller on the coast of Mallorca. What a beauty! Very impressive to see up close! Spoke to a very friendly gentleman who was just returning to Mrs.D by bicycle and very kindly informed me on my curiosity about the beautiful Lady of the Ocean in question before he boarded her.
    Absolutely stunning Mrs.D.
Curious as to who the owners are of course!! Perhaps the friendly gentleman who took the time to answer my inquisitive questions?
    Who knows……
