Vilanova Grand Marina – Barcelona, the first marina in the Mediterranean specialising in superyachts, sets up this autumn all its land-based facilities, coinciding with the celebration of the Monaco Yacht Show and only five months after opening its doors in April this year.

The newly completed land-based facilities at Vilanova Grand Marina features several buildings: harbour office, dock personnel building, 66 store rooms and three sets of commercial buildings, with 8 shops for boating companies. Since this autumn, part of the new premises are occupied with an English pub, a restaurant, a shop specializing in upholstery, a ship chandler and a store specializing in wood. There is also a private car park, access opened to all port users, with capacity for more than 150 vehicles.

Five months after opening its doors, the new marina is now getting ready for its first autumn/winter season. The marina forecasts occupancy to achieve 40%, an increase from the initial forecast for the first season. According to Xiqui Mas, Chairman of Vilanova Grand Marina – Barcelona, “the good occupancy prospects for the coming season are the result of the support and recognition the marina has received from the sector”. He also said: “From Vilanova Grand Marina we want to thank the good acceptance of the Marina among the ship owners of superyachts and the sector”.

Within the framework of the Monaco Yacht Show, Vilanova Grand Marina – Barcelona will sponsor the ninth edition of the Captains Dinner and Awards, promoted by Fraser Yacht and which will be held next 24th September at the Monaco Yacht Club. This event is an annual meeting for captains and crews of prestigious yachts around the world and, for the first time, with the participation of Vilanova Grand Marina-Barcelona as a new sponsor in this edition, offering a special price to the three finalists of the Captains Awards, valued in more than 9.000 euros. The marina will also organise a tasting of Spanish delicacies.

Ignacio Erroz, General Manager of Vilanova Grand Marina – Barcelona, stated: “We are honoured of being able to collaborate with Fraser Yachts in such an important dinner as it is the Captains Dinner and Awards because where we feel more comfortable is surrounded by captains and other experts from the sector”.
