Sanctuary Cove International Boat show will break record

The Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show will have a record exhibitor line up in 2006, breaking new ground in its 18-year history.

The 2006 Show currently has 416 exhibitors, surpassing the 2004 record of 403. Show dates are Thursday, May 18 to Sunday, May 21 from 9am to 5pm daily.

Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show General Manager Barry Jenkins said interest from internationals was high with many inquiries directed to him during Sanctuary Cove’s participation at the China International Boat Show in Shanghai this month.

“We have more than 350 boats on water and hundreds more boats are booked for the open-air hardstand displays as well as marine products, accessories and services in four pavilions,” he said.

“There are tens of millions of dollars worth of boats at the show with some exhibitors staging $A20-plus million (12 M€) displays. We’ve got more than 50 Australian launches and at least 20 world launches.”

World releases planned by exhibitors include:

  • Evolution Yachts launch of Evo 80, an 80ft custom sports cruiser named Crystal Blue;
  • Schionning Designs new Prowler VT 1000;
  • The Dambuster 380, a 3.8m bass boat made from fibre composite
    using resin infusion techniques to give a lightweight, fuel-efficient
    craft;
  • Viper HPS boats new Cielle, a 4m luxury runabout which can be used as a skiboat and;
  • MOBi-lert 720i, Man-Over-Board technology developed in Western Australia.

Imported power boat releases into Australia include the US-made Nordhavn 47, a 14.3m boat with a big bow and broad beam to handle heavy seas; the Fibrafort Style 215 cruiser from Brazil and New Zealand’s CrestaCraft 900.

Sailing boats at the Show include Buizen Yachts new Buizen 48 Mark II featuring a new bulb keel design; five sail boats from Beneteau including the Cyclade 39 and Lagoon 380sll; and six of the latest Catalina yachts.

A wide range of boating products are introduced to the Australian market with Humminbird’s 700 series fishing systems; Acoola Marina’s collision protection product range created from high density premium quality closed cell foam; and new clothing lines and shoes from firms such as Helly Hansen, Rugged Shark and Musto.
