Sessa C52: Italian know-how

07/2006 –

Italian know-how

At last year’s Cannes boat show (2005), the leading Italian shipyard Sessa Marine presented the new addition to an already well-furnished range, with its new 52-foot flagship. This Italian cruiser contains all the know-how developed by Sessa over many years.

Above deck

In line with the times, the C52 is equipped with a large, electric hard top. The beauty of this yacht lies mainly in its sophisticated silhouette with harmoniously flowing lines. At sea, it is a pleasure to watch. The use of teak adds a well-deserved touch of luxury to what constitutes the flagship of the range, and the stern platform is entirely covered in the hardwood. The tender stowage area, placed slightly to port for easy access to the wheelhouse, is topped by a spacious sundeck. Another solarium, slightly more exposed to the wind but just as spacious, can be found towards the bow, just forward of the sloped windshield. The electric sunroof quickly transforms the wheelhouse into an open-air space, and because this is just over the saloon area, lunch can be savoured in the sun. For added comfort, Sessa has also installed a second adequately-equipped galley opposite the helm station.

Below deck

The interior is as much of a success as the silhouette. The use of different shades of wood, the floor and wall coverings and cushion colours all show that Sessa has paid great attention to creating a harmonious colour scheme that is anything but monotonous. The cosy atmosphere of the cabins can be accessed via a set of three small steps. The large owner’s cabin is bright and spacious with side portholes and a large deck hatch, and is fitted with its own shower cabin and separate toilet. Four additional, permanent berths are available for comfort on board, in two separate cabins in the centre of the yacht, one with a double berth and the other with twin berths.

Engines

The Sessa C52 offers unexpected comfort below deck and its performance at sea is also impressive. Equipped with 2 x 675 hp engines with shaft line transmission, the unit weighs in at 17 tonnes and can achieve speeds of 35 knots according to the manufacturer. A remarkable speed for Sessa’s flagship.
