Blue Coast Yachts, builder of extraordinary catamarans, continues to improve the standards of its range. The company, encouraged by the success of “Allures”, which was celebrated by the press and nominated as “Best Sailing Yacht” of the World Design Awards in 2007, prepares a brand new mega-yacht, the Blue Coast 165‘. Her launch will be for sure an event in the Luxury yachting world. This project received unanimous support during its presentation in a world premiere at the Cannes Boat Show in September, 2008. After her presentation at the American Boat Show in Fort Lauderdale, the next stops will be at the Abu Dhabi Yacht Show and the Moscow Boat and Yacht Show in the Spring of 2009 where a model of Blue Coast 165‘ will be on display.

Design and technology are the main ingredients of Blue Coast 165‘. Conception, naval architecture and interior design of Blue Coast 165‘ are achieved by Jean-Jacques Coste, undisputable expert of catamarans and the Director of Coste Design & Partners. His French Riviera based studio notably developed the famous Singapore Airlines’ en-suite First Class cabines on Airbuses A-380. More recently, the office signed with well-known shipyard Fountaine-Pajot to develop new designs for their luxury catamaran range.

The Blue Coast 165‘ benefits from the construction in a sandwich of carbon/epoxy/PVC to mold a light yet very resistant body. The extraordinary living space of nearly 1000m2 is exceptional for a sailing boat. Jean-Jacques Coste and Franck Delabarre are concurrently in charge of the interior developments, where they have conceived a warm and contemporary loft-inspired space. The conception of BC 165’ with two story hulls which will allow, for example, cabins created with duplex apartments which will allow one to critically rethink the interior designs of a sailing yacht. The distinctive details of this ship are also movie theater, direct access to the aft jacuzzi from the owners cabin, a helipad and a swimming pool of 4m of diameter on an impressive Fly bridge.

Of course, the interior architecture of Blue Coast 165‘ is completely custom designed according to the wishes of each owner. That’s why each Blue Coast Yacht developed by Jean-Jacques Coste and his experienced team is so unique. Technology is also fully engaged to achieve exceptional performances under sail. Indeed, thanks to its exceptional ratio weight / surface of sail and to multiple tests in basins having led to the final drawing of hulls, Blue Coast 165‘ will be able to reach 15 to 20 knots in complete safety and in great comfort. Although, this is contingent on the wind and the weather conditions. Higher speeds can be envisaged in good conditions.

Already very competitive in terms of fuel consumption in the basic version, Blue Coast 165’ is currently studying to accept an electrical diesel propulsion system allowing for low consumption and therefore a reduction of harmful emissions in the atmosphere. In this class of yacht, Blue Coast 165’ is a champion for the respect of the environment. Only few ships will be able to be as efficient as the Blue Coast 165’ is on this point.
